The new material industry is an emerging industry built up based on the traditionally advantageous construction materials industry in Tai’an, with 153 enterprises above the designated size producing new generation construction materials, high performance fiber, high end special and functional metal materials. The inorganic nonmetallic materials represented by Taishan Glass Fiber and Taishan Plaster play important roles in international and domestic markets, making Tai’an an important non-metallic material product base under the National Torch Plan. Taishan Glass Fiber has a production capacity of 1 million ton, ranking No. 2 in China, and holding half of the HSHM glass fiber market in China. Taishan Plaster has annual output of 2.6 billion plasterboard, ranking No. 1 in the world. Shiheng Special Steel is an enterprise of the most complete specifications of steel products in the construction materials industry, with output capacity of 4.65 million tons and annual sales revenue of more than 10 billion RMB Yuan. Its finish rolling deformed steel bar market share ranks No. 1 in China. Lude Geogrid, and ROPENET Special Rope also rank No. 1 in China. Amer New Material, Huaneng Optical Fiber Preform, NSFC-ISF Carbon Fiber Industrial Park and the like major projects are also settling down here. Next, Tai’an will center on building, supplementing and strengthening industrial chains, building up stronger high performance fiber and new construction materials industry, bigger geotech new materials and advanced textile materials industries, cultivating photo-communication materials, rare earth permanent magnetic material & lithium battery new material industry, constructing high performance fiber, new construction materials, new energy materials and photo-communication industrial clusters, in an attempt to build up an influential “land of new materials in China”.
