The high-end equipment manufacturing industry is a conventional advantageous industry of Tai’an, mad up of 141 enterprises, and involving power transmission equipment, automobile and parts & components, engineering machinery and mining machinery. Tai’an is the industrial base of power transmission and transformation equipment under the National Torch Plan, and the national industrial base of high-tech mining equipment. A group of enterprises like ITD, Shangdong Energy Heavy Equipment and Aerospace Special Vehicle are leaders in China. In the power transmission equipment industry, the industrial chain dominated by products like power cables, high-voltage switches and transformers has been formed. ITD for example ranks No. 4 in the power transmission equipment industry in China, whose low voltage switches for nuclear power have reached international advanced level. The mining equipment industry has formed up an industrial chain dominated by full-mechanized coal mining, timbering, transmission and re-fabrication equipment, and Shangdong Energy Heavy Equipment has become the only national level mechanical products remanufacturing engineering research center. In the automotive and parts & components industry, the industrial chain dominated by special vehicles, dedicated vehicles, and parts & components has been formed up, and Aerospace Special Vehicle is a leader in heavy duty vehicles for military use in China. The intelligence manufacturing is showing a rapid developing momentum, and J-robot, Taikai Robot, Haitian Rehabilitation Robot and so on have successively settled down here.
